RAKU EFFECT STRIPE BEAD FB007

A very time consuming bead! First lines were etched in to the clay before firing. After firing the bead was coated in black underglaze then sanded back to reveal the black lines. These lines were then covered with a wide band of latex and the spaces coated with clear and blue crackle glazes. After peeling off the latex to reveal matt areas the bead was fired again and finally it was soaked in coffee overnight to give the antique crackle effect. Phew......

This bead is approximately 26mm in diameter and 12mm thick. The hole is large enough for a 2mm cord.
